Mukachevo Castle
In the south-west part of Mukachevo, in the suburb called Palanok, stands a lonely hill – Castle Mountain – crowned with the towers of a once mighty and famous medieval castle. Mukachevo Castle has seen a lot in its lifetime. As early as in the 17th century people in the capitals of the biggest countries of Europe spoke with respect about the courage and uncrushable spirit of its inhabitants. Disputes over its possession arose between kings and princes. It was also sadly known as the strictest prison of the Austrian empire. Nowadays, it is an architectural historical site. The castle stands over Latoritsa River as a symbol of the high morality of spirit and the talent of its people, and as a treasure of its history and culture.
Sinevir public natural park
The nascence of Sinevir public natural park is connected to the unique beautiful mountain lake. Sinevir is the biggest and one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of Carpathians. The water in the lake is so clean that your can see the bottom. In 1989 a public natural park was created here. Coming here you will encounter untouched nature, as you see the beauty of the slender centuries-old beeches. Here you can find a lot of rare animals as well as 90 species of rare and endangered plants listed in the Red Book. Within the park is a famous spherical marsh called Gluhanya. Not far away from the lake on the Black River there is a unique Museum of Forest and rafts.
Trout Farms
You will have a wonderful opportunity to fish for trout, the fish indigenous to the Transcarpathian region. If you wish, the fish will be grilled for you on the brazier at one of the shepherd's cottages, and served with aromatic Transcarpathian wine and baked potato. It’s as much a treat for a gourmet as for a fisherman. Fishing gear will be provided on site.
Beregovo. Excursion to thermal springs
One of the wonders of Beregovo area is thermal mineral springs that have health-giving quality and are able to heal 86 known maladies. Thermal springs in Beregovo make a big open-air swimming pool with water temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. Who can refuse oneself the pleasure of bathing in the warm mineral water outdoors, especially in the winter time!
Uzhgorod (Uzhgorod castle visitation) – village Serednye
At the downstream of the mountain river called Uzh there is an ancient town named Uzhgorod. Its age is more than a thousand years. During all these centuries the ancient castle located at one of the hills on the right riverbank was its guardian. According to archeological excavations, as well as documentary evidence, this construction belongs to the mid 13th century. Nowadays the castle is home to the Transcarpathian local history museum.
The "Shipot" waterfall
Shipot is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Transcarpathian area. The water falls with numerous picturesque cascades, enchanting the tourists. The brook originates in the high Borzhavski mountain valley. In the springtime the waterfall is even more beautiful thanks to melt waters. The height of the waterfall is 14 meters.
Every year this waterfall gathers people from all around the world thanks to the Hippies Festival that has taken place here since 1993. There are also other social events that take place here, for example Children’s Day, the Miss Shipot beauty contest and the most grand event - St. John the Baptist celebrations.
Hust, Narcissus Valley
It’s the only place in Ukraine and CIS where natural fields of Narcissus Angustifoliate are left. Similar fields, though of lesser acreage, are left only in Alps, Romania and Balkan countries. Their blossoming in April and May makes an unforgettable impact on spectators.
Vinogradovo, excursion to the wine-vaults
The Transcarpathian area is a recognized center of winemaking. Transcarpathian wines by their gustatory quality equal the best European branded analogs. The quality of Transcarpathian wines can be appreciated by going to the wine-vaults of Vinogradovo, the most ancient winemaking town with old traditions and beautiful monuments of architecture where you will be offered the opportunity to taste various kinds of wine of different conditioning periods.
Excursion to Budapest
The Hungarian capital, Budapest, is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its mountainous right bank part, called Buda, presents a bright contrast to plain Pest. The wooded corona of Buda, with its king’s palace, fortress of Gellert mountain, and small houses and villas swathed in the gardens on the hill’s slope, fascinates with its beauty. One of the main local points of interest is the Matiash Church (XIII century), a place of marriage and a shrine for many Hungarian kings. Budapest is also known for its laced bridges over the Danube. The excursion cost (2 days and one night at a three-star hotel) is $250-300 per person.
